Japan House, London with @omio WHAT a day.

It started in the library with hand-whisked matcha hosted by Claudia Boyer, co-founder of @jenkimatcha, the brand that made London finally take matcha seriously. While we sipped, we were surrounded by a private archive of rare Japanese luxury fashion curated by stylist Mizuki Sakakibara... Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto. Pieces most people never get within touching distance of.

Then upstairs to the Tatami Room. @kazutoshi.endo is one of the most exciting chefs in the country right now... Michelin-starred, technically flawless, somehow even more endearing in person. He walked us through his journey as a chef, his culinary philosophy, his long-standing Japanese suppliers, his core ingredients: seaweed, soy sauce, wasabi, sake. I was taking notes. Then came the sashimi box from @sumilondon and honestly? I didn’t want it to end.

Woven through it all, @omio walked us through how their app handles travel across Japan. Trains, buses, multi-modal routes, seamlessly connecting you beyond the tourist trail. If you’re planning a trip, this is how you do it properly.
Japan, here I come.

🐣 Hoppy Easter weekend, everyone!

I’ve been waiting weeks to crack into this Happy Bunny from @theanyacafe by @anyahindmarch.... and today might finally be the day. 🐰✨

Handcrafted in Britain with the finest Valrhona milk chocolate and finished with the most adorable Anya coded details… it’s (almost) too cute to eat. Almost. 🍫

The kind of Easter treat that makes you feel fancy without even trying. [gifted]
King’s Cross on a sunny day. There are worse places to be. ☀️☀️☀️

First stop: @onggi_korean , a new Korean kiosk that’s just landed at @waitrose King’s Cross. They are known for their Dakgangjeong (among other things), I went for the garlic mayo with spring onion salad. Crispy fried chicken coated in an addictive garlic mayo that somehow stays crispy throughout. Eating it with the spring onion salad was super refreshing.

The kind of thing made to be eaten outside in the sun, which is exactly what I did.

Then @kingsplacelondon , where the @oxfculturalcollective are running a series of food writing masterclasses called Eating, Drinking, Thinking. Mine was led by @yasminkhanstories an award-winning author & brilliant storyteller. It was three hours on how to turn food into writing that actually means something. Left with more ideas than I knew what to do with. If you’ve ever wanted to do more with your food writing, this is the room to be in. They are doing more [invite]

My mind was full, but there was room in my belly so headed to @coaldropsyard for a treat from @midnightpantryuk. A tiny hut doing Asian-inspired bakes and the thing I was there for, the soft serve. Jersey milk ice cream with chocolate chip cookie crumbs and kecap manis, an Indonesian soy sauce caramel. Sweet, salty, and like nothing you’ve had before.

Korean fried chicken, food writing, soft serve. Not a bad way to spend a day.

Welcome to the first episode of @themanifestini. I'm manifesting a boyfriend. Every week I make drinks, I make food, I set two glasses; because manifesting without putting in the work is just wishing, and I refuse to wish.

This week: a smoked rosemary Aperol spritz (torch the rosemary, drop it in while it's still smoking — trust me) and whipped ricotta crostini with hot honey and toasted walnuts. Eight minutes of cooking. [recipes pinned in the first comment]

His glass is ready. His seat is warm. He's on his way. Probably.

Follow me (@scottcaneat) along every Thursday and see how well I flex my manifestation skills. If you're him, you know what to do. 😉🍊
