A lot has changed in nearly 10 years since I last had a baby in the house (!) especially how I think about play in those early weeks.❤️🐞

The @lovevery Play Kits are designed for each developmental stage from the very beginning, and in months 0–1, “play” looks like sensory interaction. It’s eye contact, object tracking, small movements, and engaging baby’s senses for a few minutes at a time.

It’s so nice to have a little guidance on what actually supports that and how to make those short wake windows feel fun and intentional (for the whole family!) I feel like I’m in the wild west of baby gear these days, so I’ve come to really appreciate when something is so thoughtfully designed and backed by experts. #loveverypartner #lovevery
Reflecting on a long 5 weeks postpartum and realizing no matter how prepared and pragmatic you are, none of this is easy. And no matter how much you have to be grateful for, you can still feel sadness when things don’t go as you imagined. For anyone else navigating this, it’s all normal ❤️

I’m still pumping my heart out and working with a lactation consultant to get my supply back up, but it still felt like a tiny sting when I couldn’t check the “exclusively breastfed” box on a form at the pediatrician, and it’s mostly just frustrating that I had a whole ideal plan in my head and things just didn’t work out that way. I don’t feel “guilt” per se, because I know I did nothing wrong… just still frustrated. Especially because she was born a few weeks early and because I worked so hard to pump through the hospital stay.

In brighter news she’s gaining weight, finally starting to get the chunky thighs I long to see, and she’s otherwise thriving 🥹❤️ And I’m healthy and recovering so well too.

The Webby Awards are famous for limiting acceptance speeches to 5 words only, which was a great challenge for me. I had to figure not only how to summarize the worst year and greatest challenge of my life, but also how to thank and shine a light on the incredible IVF community who uplifted my family through all of it and voted me a “best of the internet” People’s Voice Webby award…… all in 5 words.

And my final speech summed it up as best as I could:

IVF: Worst Club, Best People.

I went from wondering if their age gap was going to prevent a close sister relationship, to wondering when it will be my turn to hold the baby 🥹🤍 I’m an only child, so seeing them together and the immediate love hits my heart in a way that’s hard for me to articulate… and it’s even sweeter than I ever could have imagined. Sister Joy 🌙
